The National Honor Society (NHS) of Maxwell Adventist Academy is a duly chartered and affiliated chapter of the United States National Honor Society. The objectives of the society are to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character in secondary school students.
Membership is open to those students who meet the required standards in four areas of evaluation: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Standards for selection are established by the national office of NHS and have been revised to meet our local chapter needs. Students are selected to be members by a five-member faculty council.
To be eligible for membership a student must be a sophomore, junior, or senior, have attended M.A.A. for at least one semester, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above on a 4.00 grading scale.
It is worth knowing that being a member of NHS plays a big roll when it comes to college/university applications and also scholarship grants.
